InclusiveCampus Life (IC Life) project 27-28 November 2019 in Brussels

Dear colleagues, dear friends,

We're very pleased to announce the final event of the InclusiveCampus Life (IC Life) project 27-28 November 2019 in Brussels. In this two-day conference we will host numerous workshops with specialists in the field: people with intellectual disabilities, teachers, researchers and others.

We are still putting our program together, but we can already reveal that the most popular workshops of the former events of IC Life in The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Finland and Belgium will be replicated. These will be supplemented with other lectures given by experienced speakers. People with an intellectual disability will of course play an important role in the event. They will present, lead workshops, will take care of musical interludes, etc.

A sneak preview into the program:

  • Testimonials of people with intellectual disabilities;
  • Coteaching with experience experts;
  • Work placement for people with intellectual disabilities on a campus of higher education;
  • Organizing a buddy system with students and students with intellectual disabilities;
  • Mixed teaching activities, an added value for students and students with special needs;
  • Self-evaluation instrument with regards to inclusion in higher education

Next to this, we're also busy setting up an attractive social program, consisting of a marvelous Belgian-style conference dinner on Wednesday evening at "Chez Leon", in the heart of the city centre of Brussels. Serving specialties from a good piece of Belgian beef, to mussels and vegetarian options alongside Belgian beers, this place is a must visit.

Furthermore, on Thursday afternoon, we offer four options to explore interesting aspects of the vibrant city of Brussels. You can pick from the following options:

  • A visit to the city centre where a tour guide will show you the absolute highlights;
  • A guided tour of the African Matonge neighbourhood, chronicling the historic presence of the Congolese community in Belgium. You will be able to taste some of the "couleur locale";
  • A guided tour of the world-famous Magritte museum, one of Belgium's most famous surrealist painters of all time;
  • A guided tour and tasting at the Cantillon Brewery, known for their Kriek and Gueuze beers with the typical sour and fruity taste.
